The intention of this program is to achieve favorable pricing terms, enhanced service levels, and a more economical selling relationship for the supplier through standardized contract terms, administrative requirements, and pricing. We anticipate growing the total volume of spending through the program to at least $10 million annually in the next 12 to 18 months as we make this program available to public and private entities across the State and across the country.

The program we’ve put together features the following:
  • Competitive pricing for core and non-core items, including:
    • A core list of approximately 500 items plus cost-saving alternates
    • Significant discounts for non-core items and private label products
  • Annual volume rebates for the total spend through the contract
  • Access for all Participant’s employees to the supplier’s employee purchasing program (which comes in handy at back-to-school time)
  • A full line of offerings, including
    • Office products
    • Off-site printing at CopyMax
    • Furniture
    • Paper (both normal and FSC-certified)
    • Technology products and services
  • Management reporting tools and regular reviews to identify ongoing cost-saving opportunities
The contract with OfficeMax is a three year deal with two 1-year renewal options. Part of the value that we've been able to establish is that having a multi-year contract with a stated intention to consolidate Participants' spend wit thsi sngle supplier helped us to achieve very favorable pricing terms. Additionally, OfficeMax has extensive software and account management tools which will enable NEO|SO Members to capture and eliminate "maverick" or "rogue" spending and achieve even more savings. This software and reporting capability is perhaps the most compelling piece of the OfficeMax arsenal when compared to the other major national players.
