SERVICE IN DEVELOPMENT:
Asset Disposition & Disposal
DATE INITIATED:
July 2005
TARGET COMPLETION DATE:
Fall 2006
THE SITUATION:
Most NEOSO Members do not have a plan for disposing of their obsolete assets. As product purchases become more expensive and critical to the day-to-day operations of every Member, it is imperative that organizations develop strategic disposition and disposal objectives in the form of a comprehensive Asset Disposal plan.
The past decade has brought an increased concern about the disposal of inactive and/or obsolete inventory such as computers, vehicles, and auto parts. Local governments must comply with recent EPA guidelines and privacy laws or face fines and litigation.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
NEOSO is developing a Shared Service offering to bring strategic Disposition and Disposal planning and execution to our Members. By implementing this offering as a Shared Service, NEOSO will bring our Members the highest quality offering at a low unit cost. An additional benefit is that NEOSO will be able to develop Asset Disposition and Disposal strategies that leverage the similarities across multiple Members to secure even better pricing, terms and conditions for implementing the strategies.
DEVELOPING LEVERAGE:
NEOSO is evaluating a team of professionals qualified to develop and implement this type of program. We are going to market to acquire the right talent, methodologies and experience to plan for and manage your physical plant inventory investments. Members will benefit from world-class experience at a substantial discount because of NEOSO's leveraged buying capabilities. These strategies will be deployed across Members with an eye toward cost reduction and service enhancement.
SUGGESTIONS:
Now is a great time to provide us with any insights and suggestions. Our objective is to provide an avenue for our Members to collectively leverage their Asset Disposition and Disposal needs and establish a strong market position.
We need your help and welcome your input. Do you have any suggestions about how we can make this program better? Do you have other needs or objectives that we haven't addressed? Please contact us with your thoughts.
